Shooterama Street photography in the Balkans

I think I need a new heart

I’ve spoken before about how parts of Belgrade remind me of America. I really don’t know what to make of the above photo - it’s a bit apocalyptic and not really what I thought would be the outcome. Perhaps I imagine America to be the home of apocalypse - exposure to the Terminator films probably caused this.

Apocalypse in Serbia gives me an uneasy feeling about the politics of the Balkans. Not least because now is a time for optimism as much as it is for grievance. Still, there is something very cleansing about overexposed photos of such a setting. I never realised rubbish could look pristine.

Perhaps both America and Serbia are in need of a clean up.

Not a fan of animals.

Another pearl

I had an interesting conversation the other night about how the battle of Kosovo (the previous one, not the current) meant something far different for serbs back then than it does now.

So the conversation turned to whether the victors get to write history. Perhaps they do, except in the case of 1066, Vietnam and Kosovo.
